Anyone who wants to be in advertising today as a model, actor or creator knows the classic route: comp card, agency, casting, shoot, buy-out. For AI-generated advertising that route no longer applies. For an AI campaign a company does not need a shoot, it needs a likeness it is legally allowed to use. That is exactly what you license, and you do it yourself.
What companies are actually looking for
Since 2 August 2026, AI advertising in the EU has to be labelled, and anyone showing the face of a real person needs that person's documented consent. Brands and agencies are therefore not looking for the most famous face but for a credible one that comes with a contract. Age, presence and type count, not follower numbers. That opens the market to people who would never have won a traditional casting.
The path in five steps
1. Register and verify your identity
Registration takes a few minutes and costs nothing. You then verify your identity with an ID document, a live selfie and a numeric code. It is the step most people want to skip, and the most important one: without a verified identity no company may send you a request. The check protects you, because it ensures nobody else can appear with your face.
2. Upload display photos
Your display photos are what verified companies see in the search. One photo is required, up to six are possible. Each photo is reviewed and approved individually. Good display photos show you the way you look in everyday life, in daylight and without heavy filters. Companies want to know whom they are licensing, not how good your editing app is.
3. Set your rules
You decide in advance what you are not available for. Up to 25 industries can be blocked entirely, such as gambling, alcohol, politics or pharmaceuticals. Erotic and pornographic content is excluded for everyone. These blocks apply automatically to every request; you never have to negotiate them again.
4. Review the request and decide
If a company finds you suitable, it sends a request. It states the brand, the campaign, the term, the channels, the territory and your amount in euros. You can accept or decline without giving a reason. If you accept, a licence agreement under German law is created for exactly this campaign. Only now do you upload the photo dataset the company is allowed to work with.
5. Payout and proof
65 percent of the licence price goes to you, with a minimum of 900 euros net per licence. The payout is initiated 14 days after you accept. Every licence has a licence proof with a short code that anyone can look up on a verification page. That is your reference: brand, period, scope, in writing.
What a licence is not
A licence is not a buy-out. The company may use your likeness only in this campaign, for the agreed term and the agreed channels. It may change pose, clothing and setting, but not your identity. General AI training, facial recognition and transfer to third parties are prohibited by contract, backed by a contractual penalty. After the term the company must delete the dataset and confirm that.
The difference from the classic route: you do not apply, you are found. And you do not sell, you license, campaign by campaign.
With or without an agency
If you have an agency, you can keep it. FaceLedger does not place you and takes no placement commission; it documents identity, consent, contract and settlement. Many models treat the platform as a second pillar for campaigns that need no shoot. Just check whether your agency contract contains exclusivity for digital uses, and raise it openly.
What you can realistically expect
FaceLedger has been live since August 2026 and is growing. Requests do not arrive daily; they arrive when a campaign fits you. A complete profile with several approved display photos is found more often than a profile with a single photo. And if your photo dataset is already prepared, you can accept a request immediately instead of keeping the company waiting.
Every AI-generated face is a legal risk. Unless it is licensed.
